Volunteering

The volunteers at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center at Morristown Memorial Hospital are a unique group of specially- trained individuals who devote their time, skills and compassion to patients before, during and after the diagnosis of cancer, adding another dimension of support and comfort to the journey many cancer patients experience.  They provide emotional and caring support for patients, families and caregivers that enhance the exemplary care of the doctors, nurses and staff.

As a volunteer at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, you are immediately an integral part of the hospital team.  You become a member of both the Morristown Memorial Hospital Department of Volunteer Services and the Oncology Department.  Your efforts will benefit the hospital in continuing its commitment to excellence while providing you with the personal satisfaction of contributing to the welfare of those in need.  Each year, our volunteers find fulfillment, practical work experience and companionship while volunteering.

Volunteers welcome guests, assist in orienting and directing new visitors, provide support services to the staff, help out in the new Breast Center, assist in the Resource Room, visit with patients on the oncology floors, and distribute items from our "Comfort Cart." There are numerous programs that utilize the special talents of many of our volunteers such as piano playing, insurance counseling, mind body programs, knitting and crafts.

If you would like to further explore how you can contribute to the warm caring atmosphere at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, please consider volunteering.
