At some point in our lives most of us have felt sleepy at work, had trouble falling asleep at night, or even dreamt of something scary or violent. While occasional experiences like these are sometimes due to hectic schedules or high stress levels, these symptoms may also be warning signs of a more serious condition that requires professional medical treatment— a sleep disorder.
According to the National Sleep Foundation, almost 40 million Americans suffer from some kind of sleep disorder like insomnia, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, or sleep apnea (excessive, loud snoring). Yet few of these disorders are actually diagnosed and treated. Poor sleeping habits can result in lack of concentration, depression, or even death. Loud, heavy snoring
- Irregular breathing during sleep
- Unrefreshing or restless sleep
- Excessive daytime sleepiness and napping
- Trouble falling or staying asleep
- Jerking of limbs, particularly legs, during sleep

- Difficulty concentrating
- Morning headaches

- Painful or crawling sensations in legs while sitting still or lying in bed
